Introduction
Cosmos is an Australian popular science magazine. Published bimonthly by Cosmos Media, it has been described as “Australia’s Scientific American”. With a readership of 80,000 and an audited circulation of 70,119 in 2013, it is the largest paid-for science magazine in Australia.
The magazine covers subjects as diverse as cosmology, quantum physics, evolution, anthropology, climate change and technology. Cosmos was first published in July 1974 under the title Science Digest with a monthly circulation of 25,000 copies.
It changed its name to Australian Science Digest in June 1979 before becoming Australian Science in April 1983 and finally Cosmos: The International Magazine of Science in 1988. The current editor-in-chief is Wilson da Silva.
