The Mazda Cosmo is a grand tourer that was produced by Mazda from 1967 to 1995. The first rotary-powered car manufactured by Mazda, the Cosmo succeeded the R360 and preceded the RX-7. It was introduced in May 1967, a year after the launch of the Wankel engine, and sold until 1972.The Cosmo was marketed as the “Efini RX-7” in Japan from 1992 through to 1998 after Mazda had introduced a new generation of the RX-7.

The Series I (SE) was available for 1968 only in Japan, powered by a 0810 two-rotor engine producing 110 hp (82 kW). Vehicles exported to other markets were Series II (S5) cars, powered by a larger 10A engine producing 128 hp (95 kW). In 1969 all Japan markets cars received this 10A engine.

Coupé versions were generally badged as 10A or simply L10A/L10B, while sedans were badged 13B – indicating 2×621 cc single rotor + 2×1300 cc twin rotor engines respectively.

The Cosmo reached 100 km/h (62 mph) in 10 seconds and had a top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph).
